Proton pump inhibitors are used to reduce the amount of stomach acids that your glands make in the stomach lining. These inhibitors are available in different types like (Esomeprazole) Nexium, (Lansoprazole) Prevacid, (Omeprazole) Prilosec are all available over the counter, which means that you don’t need any prescription to get. Some other types of Proton pump inhibitors are

PPI Information (Proton Pump Inhibitors)

PPI is taken orally. These medicines are available in the form of capsules and tablets. You have to take PPI medicines 30 minutes before your first meal of the day. Many PPI brands are available in the market that you can get without a prescription. But still, you need to seek advice from your doctors so that you can avoid any health issues. Doctors can adjust the dose of PPI according to the patient’s condition like if you have peptic ulcers, your doctor will prescribe you PPIs with 2 or 3 with some other medicines for two weeks to cure it.

Stroke risk:

ischemic stroke is a significant side effect of using PPIs like Nexium, Prevacid, or Prilosec. Ischemic stroke is one of the most common strokes caused by blood clotting. It causes blockage in blood vessels in the brain. It blocks the flow of blood in the brain and causes strokes. When the blood flow in the brain is not normal, brain cells begin to die within minutes, and it can severely damage the brain cells and lead to ischemic stroke. Some of the significant symptoms of ischemic stroke include the following:

• Sudden numbness of face or weakness
• Confusion or finding troubles in speaking 
• When you get trouble seeing from one eye or both
• If you feel trouble walking or feel dizziness
• When you feel a severe headache.

Whenever you get some of these symptoms, know that the time has arrived when you need medical assistance as soon as possible. Delay of even a single minute can cause irreversible damage.
