Essure is a birth control device that is permanently implanted in the female body to avoid Essure was designed as an alternative to tubal ligation. In 2018, Bayer, who was the manufacturer, stopped selling Essure as birth control and also ordered to return the devices back to Bayer, which were not used. By the end of 2019, all the unused Essure birth control devices were returned to Bayer. Bayer claimed that they were getting back their devices was because of the financial crisis and stopped making these devices, in an effort to the health risks that using this birth control brought with it.
How Essure Birth control devices work.
Essure acts as a blockage between the eggs and sperms. It stops the sperm from reaching the egg, and hence pregnancy is prevented.
There was a huge number of females who opted for Essure birth control devices instead of any other method because of the reason that this device does not require surgery. Unlike a tube ligation, the doctors don’t need to cut into the body to insert the device or burn the fallopian tubes. Doctors don’t even need anesthesia for this treatment. All they do is insert a flexible metal coil in the fallopian tube.
When the device is inserted into the body, the scar tissues produce in the fallopian tube, which keeps the sperm from reaching the eggs and prevents pregnancy. But, you have to wait for three months for the scar tissues to build and prevent pregnancy. Even after three months, you must get an Essure confirmation test before having intercourse to avoid pregnancy. A transvaginal ultrasound or vaginal X-ray is the method of checking if fallopian tubes are blocked. The women have to use other birth control methods until the confirmation test’s positive results.

Essure migration is one of the significant harms that Essure devices cause. Doctors observed that Essure devices inserted into the fallopian tubes were moved to the pelvic or abdominal cavity in many patients. This migration can damage many internal organs, also the uterus, and cause extreme pain in the pelvic area. The following are some symptoms that will warn you about the Essure migration inside you.
- Extreme pelvic pain
